Today, I changed my theme to inove. Inove is created by mg12. It’s very stylish.
I made some changes to a better sidebar. I removed the “south”, “center” sidebars, because I can not fine any place to configure, even it seems to be “options”. mg12 might be still working on it.
Again, I like “views”. So I add the “views” after “author”.

The newest greatest version of WordPress, version 2.8 “Baker,” is immediately available for download. V2.8 represents a nice fit and finish release for WordPress with improvements to themes, widgets, taxonomies, and overall speed. Over 790 bugs are fixed at this release.

WordPress released v2.7 at Dec.11. The code name of 2.7 is “Coltrane”. It’s a major release with a lot of upgrades and changes, particularly at the User Interface (UI). I have been using the beta versions of 2.7 for a few weeks. The UI of the new version is really very impressive, straightforward, easy to follow.
Another benefit of the new version is the automatic “upgrade” functionality, ie. you don’t need to download the newer version and upload to your wordpress and unzip it and activate it. Plugins are essentials to enhance your WordPress blog. There are tons of Plugins you can download at wordpress.org. However, what are coolest is not important. What are useful to you is the key. The below ones are what I am using. Do you like them?

Akismet checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not. You need a WordPress.com API key to use it. WordPress released a new stable version 2.6.5. The officical WordPress organization advises all users to upgrade to this new version. The security issue is an XSS exploit discovered by Jeremias Reith that fortunately only affects IP-based virtual servers running on Apache 2.x.
I changed the theme to “Clean Press“. It’s very simple, concise, crisp. As Dave said it focuses on content. I slightly modified it by changing the sidebar to right. If you like this one, Click to download Clean Press (right sidebar).
The new version 2.0 of ZdStatistics is released at Oct.14. I upgraded this plugin this morning and found a lot of fantastic new features!
This is a major release. The below is from its official blog:
- All charts are now using Google Vizualisation instead of OpenFlashChart. Why did I decide to do that kind of change ? Mainly because of compatibility issues and the “ajaxy” part of the chart that led to “undefined” data. – see these screenshots
- Better spam detection, using spamhaus.org (or any other provider as it’s an option). This will prevent the system to record known spammers as visitors.
- Blacklist of IPs is now much more human readable. btw, if you want to be sure it works, empty all textarea fields, then reactivate the plugin, it will reset to default values.
- Outgoing links ! Yes you’re not misunderstanding, it now records all outgoing links. Track where your readers are going while reading your blog.
- Geolocalization will now display Google maps with visible points for location visiting your blog.
- CSV Export of any page
Further, at the Key words tab, Chinese words are displayed normally, not %E4%F5, blah blah. It’s a great improvement for Chinese wordpress bloggers.
It’s exciting to fing more and more nice and elegant themes released. I just changed my blog theme to ElegantBox. Just as its name reflects, it’s very elegant. Meanwhile, it support Postviews and Tags just out of box.
I don’t have time to read the change log of WordPress 2.6.2. It might be a quick fixing update. Any way, I downloaded and installed it. Hope everything going well.

上次说到被人种了webshell, 在后续安全加固Wordpress中，还遇到了一个小插曲 – .htaccess该乱了，系统不能访问了。参照了wordpress.org上面的官方网站上http://codex.wordpress.org/Hardening_WordPress上的建议，安装了两个安全插件wp-security-scan以及AskApache . WP-Security-Scan的安装和运行比较顺利，对wordpress进行了一个初步的文件权限、口令、数据库等的检查，发现了几个小问题。AskApache的安装也还好，设置了管理员口令，对wp-admin的目录进行保护。设置完后，很想看看它在系统上到底做了什么。
AskApache在wordpress的根目录生成了.htaccess, 和.htpasswda1，在管理目录wp-admin下生成了.htaccess，它们的内容格式附在下面。
如果要手工修改这几个文件，需要特别小心。如果发生以外，wordpress的管理界面可能无法登录。这时，能做的是登录到网站上手工删除这几个文件，然后在重新启动AskApache，重新配置生成。 Read more…
I found the G7-v5 theme at Wulujia.com. At the first glance, I begin to like it. It’s so concise and crisp. I translates the Chinese words into English and uploaded into sbin.cn. Now you have seen this. Do you like it as well?

I am sorry that my personal domain name was not available during some yesterday. This is because of the change of domain name service provider and domain name “redirect”.
Previously I bought “zhaol.cn” at www.net.cn about two years ago. However, I found the service there is not as good as now.cn, while its price is more expensive. So I decided to change my provider to now.cn.
Meanwhile, because I have stoped to update my previous blog at i170.com. I changed the domain “redirect” to the current “live” one – “sbin.cn”.
I know some of RSS readers might be impacted because of this change. I am really sorry for that. Please update the RSS URL accordingly.
WordPress released its version 2.5.1. It includes a number of bug fixes, performance enhancements, and one very important security fix. It’s recommended to upgrade older versions ASAP. The fixes include:
- Performance improvements for the Dashboard, Write Post, and Edit Comments pages.
- Better performance for those who have many categories
- Media Uploader fixes
- An upgrade to TinyMCE 3.0.7
- Widget Administration fixes
- Various usability improvements
- Layout fixes for IE
Actually, when I installed 2.5, I expected there might be 2.5.1 with security fixes released soon. It comes after one month.
